Brown Sugar Maple Bacon

Brushing bacon with a brown sugar/maple syrup mixture, grinding some fresh cracked black pepper over the top, then baking it results in over-the-top sticky, chewy strips of deliciousness.

Who doesn't love bacon? Local bacon, thick cut, part crispy, part chewy is my personal favorite. Or should I say was

That was before I "met" brown sugar maple bacon.

Brushing bacon with a brown sugar/maple syrup mixture, grinding some fresh cracked black pepper over the top, then baking it results in over-the-top sticky, chewy strips.

The perfect addition to egg sandwiches - or any kind of sandwich for that matter - or to garnish salads. They can be crumbled and used on top of cupcakes or donuts... or just eaten plain, of course.

Here's my super simple recipe. You're gonna love it! (scroll to the bottom for the printable recipe card)

Brown Sugar Maple Bacon

10-12 slices of thick sliced bacon
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons maple syrup
Fresh cracked black pepper

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, then set a wire cooling rack into the sheet pan.

Lay the bacon strips over the rack in a single layer.

Stir or whisk the brown sugar and maple syrup in a small bowl, adding more maple syrup if necessary to get a nice spreadable consistency, then brush the sugar mixture over the bacon strips, making sure to generously cover them. Grind fresh black pepper over the slices.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes,  until the bacon is browned and crispy and the tops are bubbling and sticky.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before enjoying your sweet treat!

Store leftovers in the refrigerator...okay, that was just a joke.

I mean, leftovers?

Really?
