I have written 7 expertly researched and time-tested books on raising chickens and ducks as well as 2 cookbooks.

My 9th book just came out in May. It's my second cookbook. My third cookbook will be out in the fall of 2027.

I have also written 5 books on raising chickens, a book on raising ducks, and a kids book about hatching chicks.

(My latest chicken keeping book was a completely revised and updated 10th anniversary edition of my third book.)

And yes, I'm still pinching myself that I have been able to turn my love for raising chickens into a career that has lasted almost 20 years!

It's honestly hard to believe that I have been doing this for almost 20 years. That's longer than I held any other job ever by more than 12 years!

I did own a bookstore for about 7 years, so that's the second runner-up. And it's also ironic that now I'm an author - after owning a bookstore.

But back to the chickens. I raised chickens as a kid, but then got chickens and ducks for the first time as an adult in 2009. My first book, Fresh Eggs Daily, came out in 2012 after I launched my popular blog.

Following the success of my first book, I wrote a book every year or two for the next 16 years!

And I also continued researching and adding content to my blog which now contains almost 700 articles.

I started a stand-alone recipe blog in 2024, moving all my recipes that I had shared over the years to that new site.

When I first started Fresh Eggs Daily there was so little information about raising small backyard flocks available. Now with the explosion of social media, there's almost too much information. It's hard for beginners to know who to trust, to know whose information is accurate.

I ~~think~~ hope that the movement in recent years and months is away from all the noise and AI and ads on social media and back to trusted sources for real time-tested expert advice. If that's what you're looking for, you have come to the right place.
