Easy Egg White Facial Mask
As a woman approaching a 'certain age', one of my New Year's Resolutions this year is to take better care of myself to include exercising more, eating less (and better) and finding some easy, natural, homemade concoctions for better hair, skin, and nails.
Starting with my skin, I have been reading up on egg white facials.
Easy Egg White Facial Mask
What could be easier? We certainly always have eggs, and if you just use your finger to remove the white left in the shell once you've cracked the egg, or separate an egg and pour the white into a small bowl, whisk it well and smear it on your face, you've got a simple facial mask.
Leave it on for 20-30 minutes until the white dries and hardens (try not to move your face while the mask is drying) and then rinse it off.
Egg whites which are packed with protein, collagen and vitamins provide some really nice benefits to skin.
Egg whites can help:
- temporarily tighten your skin
- remove fine lines
- reduce surface oils
- remove dead skin
- and even lessen the effects of acne and rosacea.
Variations on the Egg White Facial Mask
If you feel more ambitious, you can try a few add-ins for your specific skin type or skin issues.
To Cleanse
A bit of lemon juice added to your egg whites will cleanse pores and act as an overall cleanser for your skin.
To Soothe and Exfoliate
Some oatmeal and honey added in help to soothe and exfoliate.
Apple pulp is another great exfoliating ingredient.
To Nourish and Smooth
Smashed avocado will help nourish and smooth your skin.
Of course there are naysayers out there who refute the claims that egg whites have any benefits at all for your skin, but the way I see it, it's free and easy, so I really don't have anything to lose.
