Fizzy Orange Vanilla Bath Bombs

in ,
Fizzy orange vanilla bath bombs will help you relax and soothe those sore muscles.

After a long day in the garden or working around the farm, a hot bath is often in order.

These homemade, all natural fizzy bath bombs are sure to help your aches and cares float away as you inhale the intoxicating scent of sweet orange and vanilla. And best of all - they're chemical-free and super easy to make!

Homemade Fizzy Orange Vanilla Bath Bombs

(makes 12-14 bombs)

16 oz. box of baking soda (about 2 Cups)
1/4 Cup cornstarch
1 Cup citric acid
1/2 Cup raw uncooked rolled oats
1/2 Cup sweet almond oil
1 Tablespoon water
20 drops sweet orange essential oil
20 drops vanilla essential oil
Two vanilla beans, seeds scraped

Stir together baking soda, cornstarch, citric acid and oatmeal in a large bowl. In a separate small bowl whisk together the almond oil, water, essential oils and scraped vanilla bean seeds.

Slowly pour the liquid over the dry ingredients, mixing or whisking until it forms a cohesive dough. (your dough will fizz, that's normal!)

Form the dough into a dozen golf ball-sized bombs with your hands or using a bath bomb mold or meatball maker. Be sure to really press to compact them.

Place balls on a cookie drying rack overnight on the counter to dry, then store in an airtight glass canister. Add one bomb to each bath for a fizzy treat!

Fill an egg carton with a dozen bombs to give as a gift, maybe to thank a neighbor who watched your flock while you were away.

Feel free to experiment and substitute other essentials oils such as lavender, mint, rose, cinnamon or lemon to create your own signature scent!
