Blackberry Rosemary Herbal Fizz Soda
Fresh rosemary paired with blackberries really gives this simple, homemade soda a nice, complex taste.
I like to whip up a batch of the herbal simple syrup, then add it to a glass of ice and club soda for an all natural flavored "soda" in the summer.
Or you can go one step further and add a splash of vodka to make it the ultimate adult summer cocktail.
Blackberry Rosemary Herbal Fizz Soda
I love making natural simple syrups to use in refreshing summer drinks.
Add a splash of club soda to the syrup and you've got an instant 'soda' that's way more healthy than store bought sodas since you control the amount and type of sweetener and not difficult to make at all.
I love to make rose petal simple syrup, violet simple syrup and strawberry simple syrup. Now I'm sharing my recipe for blackberry-rosemary simple syrup.
Blackberry-Rosemary Simple Syrup
2 cups granulated sugar (or sweetener of our choice)
2 cups water
Handful of fresh blackberries (fresh or frozen)
4-5 fresh rosemary sprigs
Combine sugar, water, blackberries and rosemary in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer over low heat, whisking occasionally, for 10 minutes.
Remove from the heat and cool, then pour through a fine mesh strainer, discarding the solids. Let cool completely in refrigerator.
(Syrup will last in the refrigerator for about a month.)
