From her small farm in Maine, Lisa Steele who has been described as "Queen of the Coop" by the media, dispenses chicken advice one nugget at a time to her hundreds of thousands of followers across social media all over the world.

The author of six top-selling poultry books (with a cookbook coming out in February 2022 from Harper Collins) and creator of Fresh Eggs Daily®, the largest backyard chicken keeping site online, Lisa has put her own unique spin on chicken keeping - keeping it natural, relying on time-tested old timers methods learned from her grandparents and incorporating lots of herbs and edible flowers in her flock's diet and environment.

And it’s a message that's been striking a chord with both soccer moms and homesteaders alike since 2009.

A fifth-generation chicken keeper on her mother’s side, Lisa created the perfect storm to become the foremost “eggspert” on everything backyard chicken early on when the movement first began to gain momentum more than a decade ago.

Offering solid advice that is simple, effective and makes sense, she also ventures over to the whimsical side and advocates curtains, wallpaper and twinkle lights in chicken coops - and in fact her own coop features shiplap on the walls, buffalo check curtains and even a mirror so her chickens can give themselves a once-over before heading out for the day.

As she often states, “these aren’t your grandmother’s chickens!”.

Author | Lisa's first six books have sold more than 125,000 copies, making them some of the most-read and popular in the backyard poultry niche.

Her first book was aptly titled Fresh Eggs Daily: Raising Happy, Healthy Chicken Naturally (St. Lynn's Press, 2013) and not only offers basic advice to those just starting out on their backyard chicken journey, but also compiles the best from my blog in the areas of the coop, run, nesting boxes, and more, to guide readers on a more natural path to chicken keeping. It has been a best-selling chicken keeping book on Amazon almost continuously since it's release, selling more than 50,000 copies, and is considered a classic in the genre. It was recommended summer reading on The View in 2018.

Her second book titled Duck Eggs Daily: Raising Happy, Healthy Ducks...Naturally (St. Lynns Press, 2015) does the same for backyard ducks as her first book did for chickens and is the best-selling pet duck book on the market.

A third book titled Gardening with Chickens: Plans and Plants for You and Your Hens (Voyageur Press, 2016) which combined her two passions - chickens and gardening - and was named one of the best garden books of 2016 by USA Today.

Her childrens book Let's Hatch Chicks! (Young Voyageur, 2018) was long-listed for the AAAS/Subaru Prize for Excellence in Science Books for Kids, and her fifth book 101 Chicken Keeping Hacks from Fresh Eggs Daily (Voyageur Press, 2018) in which she shared more than a hundred quick and easy tips and tricks for raising backyard chickens was released later that same year. DIY Chicken Keeping from Fresh Eggs Daily was released in February 2020 also from Voyageur Press.

The Fresh Eggs Daily Cookbook will be coming out in February 2022 from Harper Horizons, a division of HarperCollins.

Freelance Writer | In addition to writing books, she is a sought-after contributor for such publications as Farmers Almanac, Country Living, Hobby Farms, Chickens and Backyard Poultry magazines, as well as for BHG.com, and HGTVGardens.com.

Trusted Blog "Eggspert" | Writing more than 700 blog posts on her website since 2012, she has taken the backyard chicken keeping arena by storm to become the most trusted voice in natural chicken keeping - the go-to girl if you will - often being interviewed for, or quoted in, national magazine and newspaper articles including The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USAToday, BuzzFeed and The Associated Press.

Fresh Eggs Daily® was named one of the Top 10 Gardening Blogs by Better Homes and Gardens magazine as well as by Nature Hills Nursery, and is featured on the Bonnie Plants and Gardeners Supply websites, which helped to solidify her place in the gardening world as well.

Her blog was also named a Finalist for Blog of the Year (Best Content) by The Blogger Network.

Social Media Influencer | With a worldwide fan base numbering nearly one million followers, Fresh Eggs Daily is inarguably one of the most influential voices in the backyard chicken keeping niche. In 2011 Lisa created the Facebook page Fresh Eggs Daily which currently has more than 650,000 followers and is one of the largest backyard chicken keeping pages on Facebook.

Also active on  Instagram with more than 100,000 followers, as well a Twitter and Pinterest, Lisa has become the main "chicken lifestyle" expert in the social media backyard chicken arena to whom others turn for sound advice and helpful guidance.

Answering questions about soft-shelled eggs, chickens that won’t lay in their boxes, how to hatch chicks or which breeds make the best pets, she’s become a trusted confidante to aspiring chicken keepers around the globe.

As such, she also has been working with some of the top companies in the chicken keeping space, since long before the word “influencer” was even a speck on the horizon. Long ago, brands recognized that she’s built a loyal fan base who trust her advice and trust which products they should use and buy.

In aggregate, across all social media platforms, she reaches over a million loyal, targeted viewers.  See her social media stats appear HERE.

Public Speaker/Public Figure | Lisa has appeared on P. Allen Smith's Garden Style television show on PBS, Martha Knows Best on HGTV, as well as on numerous local and national television talk/news and radio programs and appears regularly at fairs, conferences and book signing events nationwide presenting talks in the areas of chicken keeping, raising ducks, gardening.

Prior speaking engagements and appearances have included the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, Northwest Flower and Garden Show, and Country Living Fairs. For a current list of scheduled appearances, please refer to the Events tab.

Entrepreneur | Lisa's college education finally came in handy (a degree in Business Management with a minor in Accounting from Bryant College in Rhode Island) as she ventured into the world of entrepreneurship with the launch in early 2018 of the Fresh Eggs Daily® brand of all natural poultry feed supplements on Amazon and Chewy.com

Launching her own brand and managing the creation and growth single-handedly with help from her manufacturer, she’s drawing on her business background and years working on Wall Street. She knows how to market a product, calculate profit margins, prepare a tax return and file a trademark. These are things that the average blogger (or chicken keeper) generally doesn’t have in their arsenal.

This business savvy,  along with her loyal fans, has helped her rise through the ranks to become the most recognizable face in chicken keeping and catapulting her products alongside major national brands in popularity, with more than half a million dollars in gross sales in 2020.

Recent Press + Media | Lisa has been featured several times on the Hallmark Home and Family show, and on Good Day Sacramento, San Diego Morning Extra, Good Morning Maine, 207, Yahoo News, ABCNews, Delish, Cosmo.com, HGTV and Bob Vila - and in Southern Living magazine, American Farmhouse Style, Down East magazine and the Cottage Journal.
